What that error message means is that there is a template with locked code that is attempting to install when you go that route. Chances are it's some addin template you have installed for enhancement of the program. But there's an error in the code. It can't tell you the exact error, because the code module is locked. So you'll need to hunt out the troublemaker and remove or rename it. Go to your ...office/startup and word/startup directories and look for any *.dot files in them. Normally, none should be in there. But if someone at your office is sharing templates or code modules (macros) with you, there may be one or more inserted in there to open for global access when you open a Word doc. Or you may have installed some program such as Adobe, that has Word template macros it provides by inserting a shared template in your startup dirs. If it's an important template from your office, notify the maker that there's a problem. If it's something you don't recognize, rather than deleting it, you can just rename it to *.OLD. Then it won't try to install...but if you later learn you need the code file for some reason, you can easily rename it to access it again. If it's some leftover garbage template you KNOW you don't need, you can delete it or move it out of that dir. I can open My Documents and open any file I want. But it is frustrating not to be able to open from within Word.
