The problem with Windows Media Player 7 and 9 is that they scale screen
size to other than the original and that's probably your problem. First,
click Tools>Options>Performance>Advanced tab and make sure under Video
Acceleration that Use Video Rendering is unchecked and then play back your
avi in full screen mode (View>Full Screen) Use Compact or Standard mode
too.
To confirm it's your players problem, play back your avi using the Camtasia
player or the old WMP 6.4 (mplayer2.exe) With those players the video
should be just like the original. WMP 7- 9 can be problematic with other
video as well - ie - some divx-mpeg 4 videos, even with the codecs
installed, you often get sound and video out of sync.

When I record with Camtasia and playback with Windows Media Player, the
screen breaks up and is digity for a lack of a better term. What can I
  change to improve quality?

I have a program called Camtasia that not only can record screen activity
to
avi, but convert avi to swf and other forrmats as well. Will have to
show
Linda, and boy will she be impressed at how easy this stuff really is.

Thanks...and I WAS tired, I'd been up 24 hrs setting those lessons up
and it was about 4am when I recorded that.

But no...I didn't do it JUST with MX, I'm also using a combination of my
video and graphic capabilities I have with a few other programs that
I've set up and Greg has bought me over the years to work in conjunction
with my video and DVD setup. We're talking wired for sound here.<g> It's
just that I discovered I could use another program to convert my
original, large AVI files down to swf movies and that's cool.

And thanks to all this stuff, I think I also have a THIRD client now! I
may be teaching in downtown Chicago starting mid-Jan. Way cool.

And speaking of all my clients...I'm outta here too cos' I have lots of
material to write, sites to design and lessons to record. Later folks...

That was WAY cool, Dian....I am impressed

But, dang woman, you sound tired!!

(If I did something like this, people would think they were listening to
Leonard Johnson instead of Linda Johnson cuz my voice is WAY deep...LOL)

So...you did all of this with MX? I have the full MX suite and I can't
make heads or tails of the programs. If only I had MORE TIME!!!

But...since this IS an Office group, we need to stay focused on the
Office products, of which FP is one and Dreamweaver is NOT one *wink*

And those of you who DON'T have the bandwidth to handle Dian's taskpane
lesson, you can go to her ezine and read mine ;-)

    >>I think FP is a snap and DW is WAY confusing....maybe it's cuz I'm so
used to Microsoft products and the interface is just more intuitive for
me, but I don't see Dreamweaver (the more expensive of the two) being
    easier AT ALL

It's not easier...just better.<wink> And once you learn one app from MX,
the rest are no problem. Seeing that I'd been using HomeSite for YEARS
(and a beta tester for version 4) when Macromedia bought out HomeSite
and incorporated the best of HS into DW...it was a no brainer for me to
learn DW. Had it mastered in two days and now that I know DW, learning
Flash, Animator and Fireworks has been NO big deal.

In fact, just to blow you away even more, see what I can do now!!!!!!!!
I have a new client who wants me to help their 97 users move to XP,
here's a sample of my training site. Note, you need sound to hear my
instruction and decent bandwidth to view this Flash movie.
