[Date Thankyou sent] That's what's in the update to box and it still has a conversion dealie error message. Try taking out the 1* portion of your criteria and you will take care of your problem. Your criteria should look like this: [Date ThankYou Sent] That should take care of your problem. Here are my expressions: I'm using as criteria the date received field of my donations table: >#6/1/2004# The reason for that, is that's the oldest donation date for the TY's I sent yesterday (dismal performance, by the way). I'd like to, in the future, change that criteria to something that is >the date of entry of the last round of thank yous, but that depends on this going well and seems a tad complicated. The next column in my update query is Thank you sent field of the donations table, (here's where the mess up is, I bet) update to: " [1 ] * [Date Thankyou sent]" The reason for this is my handy dandy book in the "how to make access ask first" section uses something like this if you want to put in your own multiplier. I want access to ask for the date I want entered. The problem I'm getting is an error message saying that it didn't update the fields due to a "type conversion failure". I have set the Date thank you's sent field to short date, and also in properties in the query to short date, so now I am officially flummoxed. When I tried the ask me thing without a 1 * part of it, it didn't ask me and still had conversion issues. You all have no idea how much I appreciate having smart people to ask questions too. Sometimes posing the question helps me find the answer in the first place, but more often posing the question gets me the answer from one of you nice people. Woo Hoo! Two months of off and on work pays off! Here's my question now for the best and the brightest of those who face Redmond when they pay homage to the gods of capitalism: Is there a way to tell access to automatically keep track of the fact that the thank you note was finally sent on August 2? What would be really great is if that would go in my donations table right next to the date received and amount, and THEN the next time I go running a query, if it would remember that the last set of thank you notes went out on August 2, so it would automatically know to grab records with dates between August 2 and the next time I run thank you notes (that date). Now, it can't just notate that the query was run, cuz I might run it to get information for a board member, it has to ask me if it should notate it. I can see why programmers like their jobs-its cool when it finally works!
