Well, since hearing about Jim having Hospice coming to the home, I finally called him and talked to he and Arlene for about a half hour. He sounded better than I thought he would since supposedly he’s on oxygen but I think the hospice people give him breathing exercises and help him clear out his lungs. Actually, he mostly kept asking me how we were and what was new in Arizona. Arlene said that on Mondays hospice has music hospice with him. Last Monday Jim’s brother came and played guitar with the guy who normally provides this music therapy to Jim. After a while, the guy put his guitar away and sat and listened to Jim’s brother play and sing the old country songs. Jim was very excited to hear from me. I think he considers me like a little sister. We’ve known each other a long time and way back in the 70s he had his driver, bring him up to one of my parties, in East Lansing. I didn’t know he was coming. then when I worked with him he liked to tape my hair to the back of my chair and then go back to is desk and call me and get me to get up to go back to his office. So after a while I nicknamed him Painison. Jaimeson the painison. So anyway, he said his birthday is April 27th, so I’m making an effort to remember to call him on that day if he makes it that long. So just thought I’d share with you guys that I spoke with him. He said very little about his physical problems. What I got I got from Arlene. Like he didn’t want me to know. All she said was that he was receiving home hospice every day, and that he was in a rehab place to get his lungs cleared due to emphysema. Vickie Rolison
