I think the biggest win was the extra candy bags at the end

Just because I want to make a point (which is that people are willing to
sponsor MSA for events, as long as you just ask!), here are the finances
specifically on the ethical meat workshop (gif at the end):
-
$1000:Funding proposal sent by February 4 including
honorarium($500+$250 for traveling and housing expenses), bernath
fee($100), and student graphics($150) for a total of $1k
-
Almost had funding pulled because of tardiness by Shaykh for
answering emails and signing contracts. For future reference, after
funding
is approved, guest speaker must first sign a contract with WSU, then
afterwards submit a W9 by the deadlines given by DOSO. When DOSO
pulled the
funding, 4 of us had a meeting with Devon Stark, and our numbers,
passion,
and reputation of quality events and professionality convinced her
to give
it back.
-
$350: During the week of Spring Break(not many customers), Marwa
and I went sponsorship hunting to the local halal joints on campus.
Pitch
was they’d get shout outs on social media and at the event+cards/menus
in
goodie bags. We would ask to speak to the manager, have a seat, show
them
the flyer, talk about who we are, why it’s important, and what they
would
benefit from sponsoring). Only La Pita paid upfront, everyone else
required
a follow up after a week to pay. Everyone took a week to get us
their cards and coupons.
-
Blimpes (Nick at blimpieman@xxxxxxxxxxx) $50+ free drink coupons
-
La pita (Maria) $100 +15% off coupons)
-
Harmonies Express(Abu Ashraf/Taher, one of the founders of MSA)
$100
-
Sy thai (gosythai@xxxxxxxxx ) $100
-
Epicurus-was interested but backed out because they were
sponsoring too many orgs in March
-
Maya’s-was interested but was unprofessional and inconsistent
with follow up
-
Expenses($216.36):
-
Easter Candy Sales at Kroger+kroger member card!
-
$147.66 for candy and goodie bags
-
$29.70 for program prints from UofM-Dearborn that were printed
wrong, reprinted for $19 at student center graphics. (2 programs/page)
-
$12 for Shaykh’s lunch+tea
-
$8 for gift(wall clock on sale at marshals)
THAT MEANS $350-$216.36=$133.36 REVENUE FOR MSA, SUCCESSFUL EVENT!
