Hello and happy Friday. If you are not running in a race this weekend and have the urge to get out and stretch your legs, here are some ideas. Saturday @ 7:30a, Trail 396. It is an out and back, so go whatever distance you like.Sunday @ 7:30a, The fire fighter 10K course practice. The race is next week!!! There is a little birdie telling me that some people may be doing some track work tomorrow morning if that would interest you more than trail running. Jessica L. can give you more information on that later today. If you are unsure how to get to Trail 396, here are some directions which were provided by Dan M.From Copper Basin (or the Safeway near Copper Basin) head south about 2 miles, on the left (east) is the White Spar Campground. Trail head parking is to the right. The trail is about 4.7 miles long, ending on Senator Hwy, just south of Goldwater Lake. A rolling trail with good shade and great views. Since it is an out-and-back, run any distance you would like up to 9.4 miles, make sure that you go at least 2-1/4 miles in, to the creek crossing and pools at the bottom of Goldwater lake, this will refresh your spirit even if the run is not going as well as you would like.
