Transfiguration of the Lord
All three Synoptic Gospels tell the story of the Transfiguration (Matthew
17:1-8; Mark 9:2-9; Luke 9:28-36). With remarkable agreement, all three
place the event shortly after Peter's confession of faith that Jesus is the
Messiah and Jesus' first prediction of his passion and death. Peter's
eagerness to erect tents or booths on the spot suggests it occurred during
the Jewish weeklong, fall Feast of Booths. For more, follow the link below:

Thrones were set up and the Ancient One took his throne. His clothing was
bright as snow, and the hair on his head as white as wool; his throne was
flames of fire, with wheels of burning fire. ~Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14

While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them,
then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my beloved Son, with
whom I am well pleased; listen to him." ~Matthew 17:1-9

Jesus is the Messiah. There is no doubt about that after the
Transfiguration. Jesus' disciples are prepared for the struggles and pain
that will come. These moments of glory will give them strength and
conviction. Although they'd rather stay on top of the mountain with Jesus,
they come to see that their work is not finished at all. They descend the
mountain with deepened faith to face the trials to come.

I pray that I may experience some of the glory of God, and that, when I do,
I may be even stronger in my conviction. I pray that when I pick up my own
cross and follow Jesus, that I may remember that He is the Messiah. I pray
that I may work for the coming of the Kingdom in this world and look forward
to the time when Jesus brings it to fulfillment when he comes again in
glory.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat
