Hello Rob and all,

When you do a category summary Ctrl+g on a fully expanded register or restricted view of a register, and have the splits off, you get correct results. But if you show splits, make the "D" letter appear in the status column, before doing the Ctrl+g, you're summary report is inaccurate. It seems that more transactions then actually exist are reported and the averages are incorrect. For this reason I've taken to making sure splits are not showing before doing the Ctrl+g. Can this bug be fixed. Exactly what is going on I sure don't know, but I'll bet my last stamp you do.

Here is a specific example from a restricted view of one of my accounts. In this example, there are four transactions with a category named Miscellaneous. Two of them have a subcategory named Post office, one of which is a split transaction. That split one consists of a $10 cash back, and a $0.74 purchase of stamps. The non-split post office transaction is valued at $6.24. These two transactions are debit card actions, taking money from the account. The third transaction is a $49.99 credit into the account, a rebate. The fourth transaction is not reported in the summary because it doesn't have a subcategory associated with it. However by examining the register I know it is a $20 transaction, a debit from the account. Earlier, I wrote about how transactions that don't have subcategories associated with them are not shown in the category summary.

The total amount of the four transactions is indeed $86.97.

I'll follow this example with the same restriction on the category named Miscellaneous, but have the splits on.
