Rob,It very well might. Part of the reason I wasn't using my screen reader with money talks is that the columns wer at times narrower than the data in them, so the use of window eyes would only read what was on the screen, the mt synthe reads the whole cell with no fuss or muss. I've have played with the width a bit and now most of all my cells are read through the screen reader, though I must admit I've not tried to see if a full 79 character memo would fully display with my current column settings.
Another reason I use the mt synthe is I hear the contents of the amount cell when I use the home key, assuming I'm not already in that cell. With window eyes, I would need to set up a simple set file to read that cell when I hit the home key, I haven't bothered to do that. It's a similar situation when I press the end key to jump to the balance column.
I'm guessing that if you essentially got rid of the at and t voice that comes with the disc version of the program, you might save lisencsing fees and the effort to support the synthe in future versions of mt, but I'm not sure, just a guess.
But if all the data that is sent to the at and t voice is sent to the regular synthe, I might very well just stick with my regular synthesizer.

What if we were able to speak Money Talks-specific messages, such as cleared balance, through your screen reader? This would currently be possible with JAWS, Window-eyes, and System Access. Would that change you to a screen reader user in Money Talks?

Only thing is, the person still would have to turn off their usual synthesizer. I myself actually prefer the money talks voicing, because of the way it reads the status line when clearing a transaction, for instance, and the other auto reading functions. Since the main market are those using their own speech systems, perhaps not having self voicing as the default is okay, but my guess is many would prefer the mt self voicing feature once they turned it on and turned off their regular synthe. To: <moneytalks@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, October 21, 2009 10:22 AM Subject: [moneytalks] A Question of Self Voicing Hello Money Talks Users. We have a question. Should the self voicing feature of Money Talks default to on for new users, or should it be switched off by default, requiring new users who do not use a screen reader to press Ctr+F12 to turn it on? We feel that the self voicing feature defaulting to on makes it harder for new users who have a screen reader to get started with Money Talks, because two voices are presented together, and it encourages screen reader users to use the self voicing feature instead of using their screen reader. We also feel that most users already have a screen reader, so if they wanted to use the self voicing feature, they could turn it on with the assistance of their screen reader. Thoughts?
