Meet Gentry

Pre-kindergartner Gentry has received the gift of sight through several cornea
transplants and created an adorable snowman as the featured artist of the 2015
Saving Sight holiday card.

Recycled Glasses Bring Big Smiles in Mexico

On a November trip to Mexico, members of Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson
City, Missouri were met with big smiles when they helped restore sight with
recycled eyeglasses. There was perhaps no bigger smile than that of a
13-year-old girl whose new glasses made it possible for her to see her siblings
again.

Saving Sight Works with Local Hospitals to Honor Eye Donors

Saving Sight is working with partner hospitals across its service region to
honor the more than 1,600 eye donors who have given the gift of sight through
eye donation in 2015 by dedicating roses in their honor on the 2016 Donate Life
Rose Parade float. Dolan Dalpoas, President of Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital in Lincoln, Illinois, signs a rose vial in honor of eye donors from
the hospital.

Donor Medical Records May Hold Key to Enhancing Stewardship of Donated Tissue

New research could help Saving Sight and other eye banks more easily identify
donated tissue which may be better suited for research than transplantation
simply by examining donor medical records. Saving Sight Senior Director of
Business Development Patrick Gore contributed to the research and says it’s
exciting because the study demonstrates how data can be leveraged to make
decisions.
