Andy,

They used different boilers - the 9F boiler backhead is not as high as the
Britannia. (The rear drivers on the 9F take up more vertical space than the
Britannia's pony truck).
The distance between upper and lower gauge glass bush centres is 1&7/8 ins.
on the Britannia and I would expect the 9F to be very similar. One things
for sure - they won't be parallel to each other!!
