Alan,
      I've been watching that thread with interest (as you might guess) but
I've said nothing, others have stated very well what I would have said,
adding to it would be a waste of breath.

     Barry's explanantion is good enough, as far as it goes, but it doesn't
take into consideration the American penchant for bigness (is betterness)
which is definitely in play here.  This is but one of dozens of such
prosposed projects I've encountered only a fraction of which were ever
completed.

     A little off-topic cross-cultural note, I had lunch today with Dr.
John Witherspoon, a neighbor and better known these days as the father of
Reese, latest winner of the Oscar for Best Leading Actress.  A more
pleasant, down-to-earth, non-publicity seeking, and unaffected family of
folks you could not hope to meet.
