If it's anything like the Es, you have to set the banks right to get the gm
sounds, including drums.  I know Yamaha makes a GM board which would most
likely do what you want, i my mnind, it's too expensive for what it would
add for you just to get GM sounds. John Fioravanti

EThe sounds of my motif xs are great.
Is it possible to use it as a gm-device so that windows can plsay midifiles
through the xs?
I choosed the midiport but the drums don't come.
why not?
the xs has doch a gm-bank.
