Hey, Bryan. Did he say anything about upgraded from the es editors? If not,
I am prepared to shell out the cash, but it would be cool if there was an
upgrade path from the es versions.

Subject: [MoAccess] Motif XS Editors are Coming

Hi everyone.

After a lot of work and some help from Yamaha, John Melas will be
releasing version 1.0 of his editors for the Motif XS on the 17th of
this month. This will include the voice editor, performance editor,
master editor, mix editor, mix syncronizer plug in for Sonar, and the
librarian.

We're still working to get Yamaha to address a few small bugs in how the
XS responds to some of the SysEx commands that it receives, so a very
tiny number of features won't be available until Yamaha fixes the bugs.
However, 99% of everything works.

Also, while the programs are fairly accessible as-is, I will be
releasing a set of Jaws scripts to improve accessibility further. I'll
explain more about this later on, but basically John has had to use some
non-standard Windows controls in order to have the program behave in the
best way possible. For example, the controls that change values can let
you type numbers, use the arrow keys, or, in some cases, actually press
keys on the XS when focused on the computer control to set things like
velocity or key values. The basic Windows controls aren't able to do
that sort of thing. His custom controls will still be controlable from
the keyboard, but they won't speak automatically because, to a screen
reader, they still seem as if they're some strange custom control. My
script package will cause the editors to speak important values
automatically, and will provide other tutorial prompts to help you find
your way around the hundreds of controls available in these editors. I
was thinking about charging a small amount for the scripts, but I've
decided to give them to the community as-is. If I charged, I'd need to
use a serial number system, and that would lock the scripts to a
particular copy of Jaws. Rather than put everyone through that, I'd ask
that, if you think the scripts are useful, that you please consider
donating about $10 to the site.

I'll post more info about the scripts at a later point. However, I
wanted to let everyone know that you will have the editors in less than
two weeks. Pricing has not been firmly set, but will probably cost
around $120 for the complete package.

Bryan
