Strange end to the daylight hours. Just before twilight, I stepped out of my
car as I got home from work to go inside, and heard a Barred Owl call in the
distance, so I took it as a sign. It was a good thing I did. In 15 minutes
time, I spotted or heard all of the below, with gulls and blackbirds going to
roost, my normally present Red-tailed Hawk, and some typical yardbirds. The
large pond on the Eastern edge of my property held ducks and grebes, and just
as I was ready to walk on in, a Cooper's Hawk flushed a flock of waxwings out
of the Magnolia tree. Not bad for getting in for the day. Now, it's time for
some football.
