[missbird] Sardis Lower Lake shorebirds

Missbirders,
I stopped by Sardis Dam yesterday and was surprised to find the Lower Lake
as low as I've ever seen it. The Corps is working on the spillway from main
lake and has the spillway completely closed. I've attached a photo from one
vantage on Lower Lake showing the extent of the exposed lake bottom. Lots
of mud out there for shorebirds. Highlights included a CASPIAN TERN, LEAST
TERN, SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS (10), SPOTTED SANDPIPERS (8), SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS (14), a few PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and a few dozen LEAST
SANDPIPERS. Main lake is still near full pool which doesn't bode well for
early season mud appearing this year. I'm not sure how long the Corps will
have the spillway closed, but it's worth a visit if you're in the area and
want an easy spot to see a handful of shorebird species. Always a chance of
something interesting dropping in, too.
