MISBIRDers:

Another way to search for Mississippi bird records is through the online issues
of the Mississippi Kite on the MOS website:
http://www.missbird.org/Publications.htm Issues through 2003 are currently
available online. Issues 10 (2), 20 (2), and 30 (2) each contain an index to
the previous ten years. Simply look up the name of the species in which you
are interested, and the index will list the volume and page numbers where that
species is mentioned. Issue 40 (2) also contains a ten year index, but that
issue is not currently online.

In addition to the Brown Booby mentioned in the Annotated Checklist of Birds
for the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which JR gave a link to below, there was a bird
photographed on West Ship island this past April.

The 2015 version of the Annotated Checklist of Birds for the Mississippi Gulf
Coast is available on the MOS website here:

Correction to my comment - Ned Boyajian's checklist is to the birds of the six
Mississippi Coastal Counties, not the whole state. The version I have is 2014,
but he may have updated that.

Jay, you can't get the records committee's data online, as JR pointed out. But
you can do an ebird search by state and by species. The two data sets may
overlap in some cases but there is no guarantee of that. Worth exploring both
if you really want to know what rarities have been seen.

Thanks Frank. I am an ebird member and already receive daily ebird rare bird
notifications.

What I'm looking for is the ability to formulate a query like the following:
What are the Mississippi records for <INSERT_BIRD_SPECIES_HERE>?

Perhaps ebird has this feature already and I don't know how to use it.

I apologize is if this is a rookie question, but is there any place online
where I can search/browse for records of rare birds in Mississippi?

The recent Brown Booby sighting at Grenada Lake is purported to be the third
such record in the state, but I cannot find said records. Is the list perhaps
reserved for members of MOS?
