This morning on the Biloxi Beach near the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor I did
my occasional drive by on the way to work. There was a light rain which
eventually turned heavy due to an upper level trough over the Central Gulf
Coast region. I immediately spotted the huge Great Black-backed Gull and
drove to a parking bay and walked down to the beach. As I made my way
towards the Gull, I noticed a Long-billed Curlew feeding along the beach.
The LBCU was a life bird for me and I loved watching this large elegant
sandpiper feeding. I had seen a GBBG at Ship Island in the past, but
enjoyed seeing it stand out largely among the laughing gulls and terns.
