Good morning to all--

Below are a series of questions recently E-Mailed to me by a MileStone311
user and subscriber to our list, Russell.

Please under stand, one of the questions speaks about an external Microphone
for the MileStone311 and a item being provided or to be sold from ILA.

Additional information is not currently available, but as a subscriber to
this list, you all will be the first to know.

See the questions and answers below, and keep this info available for you to
use in your use of the MileStone311.

Prior to the text of the Q&A, let me take this time to wish and extend to
all of you and your families, from myself, Stephan who is the Managing
Director of the corporation who created the MileStone311, and also from the
staff of ILA a happy, healthy and wonderful holiday season and new Year.

1. Serious noise caused by any contact with the device while recording.
Answer: Due to the minimal size of the device, the internal microphone
cannot be buffered against movements, particularly scratching the surface,
during records.

2. Inconsistent response to buttons. Example, 1&3 to start recording.

Many times does not perform. Other times succeeds, but not always.

Answer: With 5 (6) buttons, combinations of pressing buttons cannot be
avoided. What sometimes causes problems in the long record combination
(pressing 1&3) is the following: At the first record after power on or
switch of mode (internal, external), the device counts the empty blocks of
the medium first, prior to starting the record. This is initiated by
pressing the REC (1) button. Therefore, some time could be needed until the
reaction to the 2nd button (3) is sensed. Workaround: Press 1, wait until
the slight "bang" in the speaker (this might take anything between 0 to 2
seconds for very big SD cards), press 3 in addition.

3. Is there progress toward an external mike?

Answer: Yes. The manufacturer is producing a dedicated small preamp for
external mikes, since the demand for this is quite high. The preamp is
released in the 1st quarter of 2007.

This was a primary reason for my purchase.

4. Can I use a wireless headset? - Bluetooth, for example.

Answer: Any headset that fits on standard 3.5mm phone jack headphones works
well. Milestone, however, does not provide power to additional equipment.
Therefore, the headset needs to have its own power supply.
