If anyone fancies joining us at the AGM later this month please feel free to
come along. It's open to all club members.
As you know this one is important so if you can't be there in person to vote
(which ever way you see fit) please do fill in the form in Sprint & send it
back by the required date.
Please read it carefully & see below as a gentle reminder of what is considered
to be the best options for the long term security of our club.
All the best.
Nick.

Dear All
I expect that you have by now received your copy of this month’s Sprint
magazine which included the AGM voting paper.
Mine arrived today.
Yet another great edition of Sprint.
It is particularly important that we vote this year, as we have a proposal
to amend the Articles of Association so that club officials, directors, ROs
and Deputy ROs have to stand down for at least one year after only three
years in office. There is lots of discussion about the issues and
difficulties this would cause if it was adopted, on the TVRCC Forum here:
http://www.tvr-car-club.co.uk/forum/proposal-to-agm-3-years-max-term_topic45209.htmlIt
is a long forum thread, so here are some key points for your consideration:
The proposers would probably have preferred this to apply just to the
Directors and Committee members, but it must apply to any of us involved in
the Club organisation;
It is notoriously difficult to find people willing to stand for these
positions, so replacing so many on such a regular basis will be problematic
to say the least;
All position holders stand down every year in any case and have to seek
re-election;
Despite the best efforts from many people (including myself) the proposers
have not explained why they seek this course of action, or explained their
reasoning in any way;
Although we may have issues, from time to time, with elements of the Club’s
organisation and arrangements, the present position holders have improved
the standing, status and financial viability of the Club, which continues to
win awards for its activities. They have also responded to calls for greater
clarity and information eg. Sprint article on the Club finances and improved
access to Committee minutes.
In addition to this there are the usual nominations for Officer and
Committee posts. Although few positions have more than one nominee, there is
still a need to vote! You should know that Graham Butcher (National Events
Manager nominee) and Paul Gotts (Director and Secretary nominee) are both
leading the proposed change above. You may feel that because they will not
explain their reasoning behind it that their applications are tainted. Also
bear in mind that, in the case of National Events Manager, if there are more
votes ‘against’ than ‘for’ the post will remain unfilled. This need not be a
problem as the Committee can co-opt a person to the role should they believe
it to be necessary. In the case of Director and Secretary we also have
Mervyn Larner nominated – a long-standing efficient and effective Director.
PLEASE take the time to read all the information included with the voting
papers, and make your vote count this year!
This is not advice or direction, but on a personal note Phil and myself are
offering our full support to the current Directors and Committee by voting
as follows:
a. Against the Proposed change to Articles of Resolution. Against the
nomination for National Events Manager.
For all the nominations to other officers.
For Mervyn Larner as Director and Secretary
If it is any help, I will collect voting papers from you at our meeting this
Sunday and post them in a batch down to the office that evening – in plenty
of time for the 22 March deadline.
We will have spares on Sunday if you forget to bring your own.
Thank you for your patience and also in anticipation of you taking the time
to vote.
Phil and Andrew
