This has nothing to do with logging in to skype. It would be a prompt for your
keychain login password not your skype password.
As for contacts, You no longer have a sidebar. There will be a contacts button
but you may want to use the search field to find a contact and then press enter
on it to bring up the area where you can see the person's profile and chat or
call. Not knowing what you are seeing in your window I don't know specifically
what else to tell you. While I can use it now, I don't yet understand it well
enough to give you a detailed and systematic explanation.

The update changed it completely and you will need to learn it. But one thing
that happened with one person I helped was that she didn't notice the window
where skype was asking for her keychain login password. Check with vo-f1
twice and also with vo-f2 twice to see if you have such a window. It may just
sa "untitled" but when you get into the window it will be asking for the
passowrd.
As for the new order, it is quite different but check over your menus,
including the skype menu which usually would just have "about" and
preferences" and "quit" and "check for updates" but now has some actual items
that get you into settings.
