I agree, it's a long shot and would require some intentional manipulation to
bring about, but I don't know what else we change to cause the new behavior.
The other thing is that she can use VO M to bring up the menu bar and the
status menu, unless it's changed in the new operating system.*Shrug*

her before so she would have had to have changed the function keys setting
for that to happen. The function keys setting is in System Preferences >
Keyboard and in the keyboard tab. You want to check the box for using F1, f2
etc as standard function keys. Then you will not need to use the fn key but
just control-f2 and control-f3.
