I ran a copy of Vinux which seemed to work but I couldn't change the keyboard from British English to American English so stopped fooling around with it. I couldn't figure out how to modify some of the other options of that virtual machine either. The package was set up to run under vmware for windows, so maybe I just didn't know enough about VMWare.
