Bryan:
You make some excellent points. Some voice menus do time-out. Entering
a 10 digit access code for a conference call is really a challenge.
Although there is a sort of work-around if the same access code is used
over and over, which is rarely the case.
A real downer is Google Voice. Google Voice rings up with a "Press 1 to
answer the call, or 2 to send to voicemail." There is no way I can get
the keyboard on the screen and find the 1 or 2 key and do it in time --
before it times out.
The speaker volume issue is one with which I disagree, provided one uses
the headset. Trying to use any phone in a crowded or noisy room is a
disaster, and it is annoying when people try to have a conversation
while dishes are crashing, forks are clanging, and conversations are
roaring. With the headset and the volume control, one can independently
adjust the volume very nicely.
The battery life could be better, but this phone does lots of stuff,
nearly as much as a PDA (perhaps even more). I've never had a PDA with
battery life beyond 8 hours (and that's a stretch). I get double that
with my iPhone. If you use the screen curtain, it saves battery life
like crazy.
Finally, there is something I miss from my Windows Mobile and Mobile
Speak days -- a Blue Tooth keyboard. I used to use my PDA as a note
taker. I think I could do the same with my iPhone if there were a
QWERTY style keyboard large enough to type on.
Over all, I'm glad I switched.
