So I can download webkit and that will update Safari, or will that be a
separate browser/install?

Would be nice to figure out how to reduce the lag that flash puts on Safari.
Turning it off is not really an option for me most of the time, since the whole
point for me is to be able to use it on sites like YouTube, Hulu, etc. On sites
w/o videos, where Flash is just used for some page animation etc, I see what
you mean, though.

Subject: [macvoiceover] flash on the mac a bad idea:

From time to time, we see a bit of discussion of flash on web pages and for
the most part, it's usable if you have some patience and tollerance which I
don't. If you are getting a lot of busy on a site, it's most likely that flash
is there eating up your cpu cycles.

if you feel you don't need flash for your own purposes, you can disable the
flash plugin in safari by going to preferences in safari, security, unchech the
box that says "enable plug-ins". There is an alternative methode for flash
specifically but it envolves find the flash player and removing it but it is a
more permenant solution than you might want to undertake since at some point,
it may be fixed.

You can also try running the latest and keeping up with webkit found at:
http://webkit.org/
which is what safari is based on and much of the work done in web kit
development is in accessibility and makes its way to safari.
