Found it, thanks for the pointer.
So I ended up recording two sections of my song in one track, both showed up as
takes. Take 1 covered measures 1 to 11, Take 12 covered measures 12 to 20,
recorded by cycling that section.
Is there a way for me to copy Take 12 and put it into the track as its own
region at measure 12 where it belongs? I’ve already figured out that I can copy
the region to a new track and select Take 12 in this new region. This seems a
bit cumbersome, but it works.

scroll to the track in track contents,
interact with the track then interact with the region.
you will have a track take folder pop-up, within that are the takes and the
one playing will be ticked, if you want to audition the other takes tick on
them one at a time, i think this can be done while in playback.
if you don't want a particular take, select it then scroll down the take
options in the pop-up to delete it.

Ok, I promise I look at all the documentation and tutorials I can find
before I ask, but this one has eluded me.
I figured out how to do multiple takes, and then find them in my Tracks
Content area, now I want to select the one I want and delete the others. How
do I accomplish this?
My one discovery to add to the knowledge base on this, the Take folder
button in my region wouldn’t activate with VO space, needed to mouse click
on it with VO shift space.
