Apple states clearly in their documentation (and it's been mentioned in several podcasts) that macbooks should *not* be used on a lap, but on a flat surface such as a table top to provide adequate air circulation to prevent overheating.


Now, with that said.
Yes, I have the same problem with my macbook pro, so generally when it begins getting hot, I put it down on a table for a while until it's usable on the lap again. Generally, if you give it breathing room instead of leaving it flat on your lap, it doesn't get too bad.
