flash is a platform that enables developers to creat web-based applications wht interactive content. This may include HD video, drawing apps, word processing apps, etc. HTML5 (the current standard for html web development) does have limited support for video and audio sharing, though many popular sites such as youtube, the bbc, mtv, facebook, and many others all use flash, because currently it has features that are not found in html5. Also, a lot of people are now starting to use "point-and-click" systems to build their own personal websites. Some (though definetly not all) of these systems produce a flash based website, which means that we have no access to those sites what-so-ever.

but currently, with the alternatives available, pressuring the big companies won't work - for some of those companies, flash is the only way to go. So we must put pressure on adobe to make it accessible.

Need a bit of a primer on flash. I understand that it's the way video gets
played on a website, but not much more than that.

There's one question that has some huge importance. Is there an alternative, or
is flash so integrated into daily life that it has to be dealt with?

Pressuring Adobe is one thing, what about pressuring their major customers and contractors? Like
saying, "hey state government, Adobe is being crappy about this, mind not working with
them?" Of course if my above question about how vital flash is is answered with, "um, the
world will grind to a halt without it." then the chance of a major customer or contractor
being able to hit them where it hurts is close to none.

Hi all,
Since adobes original announcement that accessibility would be implemented into
flash for the mac, we've seen several releases of flash player - even the major
version flashplayer 11. These releases have brought no accessibility to mac
users so far. Is this correct?
If so, does anybody have any information on a. why adobe has not followed up
their agreement to implement accessibility, and b. when will we start seeing
some accessibility in flash for the mac for ourselves?

It's been a while since adobe said they'd give us flash accessibility on the
mac - and so far, they've failed to deliver on that promise. Unless anybody has
any information regarding flash on the mac that I've missed, I think it's time
we start contacting adobe again regarding this issue, and this time hopefully
get some results. Any thoughts?
Ash
