I am even sending from Apple mail to make absolutely sure this gets to the
list. This is about the strangest and most ridiculous problem I have ever seen
and my exploration shows it goes back for at least a couple of years and yet
has never been fixed or even fully addressed by Apple.
I am now using iCloud minimally or not at all, which makes sense as I now only
have one Apple computer; I have an iPad too but this is mostly used for my
daughter's music which is loaded onto the iPad. I also have a friend who gets
rather confused and is using an iPad so I do have her iCloud email account on
my Mac for monitoring so I can help her.
The problem reared its ugly head when I went in to use iCloud for something. I
signed in in iCloud and was told that I was already signed in and if I wanted
this to be my primary iCloud account I needed to delete it in Internet Accounts
and then sign in again. The problem with this is that this account shows up
nowhere in Internet Accounts which is fine since I haven't been using it. Yet
if I go back again to iCloud preferences (I have tried this several times) I
get the same message insisting that I must delete it in Internet accounts. When
I go to Internet accounts and try to add the account again, I also am told this
account already exists but believe me, it is nowhere in the table! I've
explored various solutions on the Internet and nothing works for me since the
problem is both with iCloud preferences and Internet accounts. I can still sign
into the app store and since I am not particularly wanting to use iCloud for
other things it isn't a crisis but it is annoying. Besides this, if I want to
monitor my friend's email for her, since my iCloud can't be signed in, it wants
to put her as the primary iCloud account. I have no idea now how to fix this
other than a complete reinstall which I don't want to do. There is ample
evidence of this problem when searching the Internet. One thing I wondered is
whether this is happening because my Apple ID is also my gmail address but this
problem doesn't only happen to people with iCloud but with other email accounts
as well.
Also, is there a way to disable game center in Internet accounts. It is not
enjoyable to be exploring the table in Internet Accounts and get trapped in a
game center area and have to cancel. I've never used game center so I don't
know where this comes from.
