Group mode does exactly what it sounds like, it groups items on the web page into sections, so you can move across the page, and items that are grouped together on the page get read as a single item. I.E. when there's a paragraph mark <P>, vo will break at that point, then read everything up to the next paragraph mark. It beats arrowing through 50 lines of text when it's all a single paragraph, in group mode, vo reads it all at once as one large piece of text. It works this way for buttons, links, and forms as well. That way, it's much faster and easier to skip content you don't want to see. Often times, the headers and footers of web pages are coded such that vo can group them into a single item, so if you don't want to be bothered with them, you can simply move to the next grouped item when they begin reading. Like I said, I never use anything else anymore, because group mode is just so darned efficient for me. And, if you want an item in the group, simply interact with the group, then select your item as before.
