It is totally independent; you can set it up with any internal or external 
sound inputs, also audio interfaces from MOTU, Avid or anything else, and have 
it running in the background when you're using GarageBand, Amadeus Pro, PT or 
any other DAW. Or simply if you're using Audio Hijack Pro.
