Hi ChrisFinder will typically re-open windows from last session if they were open at shutdown. Perhaps you had this window open and didn't realize it when you last shut down your Mac? This is what was happening to me.

Hi,When I start up my Mac, instead of landing on the Desktop, I find myself in a Finder window called Chris Hofstader's MacBook. This page contains Mac HD and Network. In some ways it's sort of convenient but I don't know how to get back to the goold old Desktop.I have already tried closing the Window and even quiting Finder to see if it would come back with the more familiar Desktop. Thanks, cdhClick on the link below to go to our homepage. http://www.icanworkthisthing.comManage your subscription by using the web interface on the link below.//www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceover Users can subscribe to this list by sending email to macvoiceover-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxwith 'subscribe' in the Subject field OR by logging into the Webinterface at //www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceover
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
