Ok, here’s the method to make a link appear as a word in Pages, is this what
you’re doing?
Select the word.
Vo shift M to bring up the context menu.
Go to link sub menu, expand it and VO space on web page.
The display text will be there, you can type or paste the website in the
provided field.
Escape to leave the dialogue.
When I just did this it did the behaviour you’re looking for, VO read the word
and gave the announcement it was a link.
If this is what you’re doing and the snazzy formatting disappears when you
transform to Google Docs, could be something in that process.

I have tried everything to make this happen. I have tried using HTML code,
I.E. “<a href= …” and that doesn’t work. I’ve tried pasting my link in and
then writing my alternative text in, that doesn’t work. Can someone please
tell me how this is accomplished, so that my links are given the alt text
which matches the structure of my article?
