I am in the same boat with my 2008 MacBook pro 15, whose battery is not only be
formed in shape, having swollen slightly and no longer fits in the bay
correctly, but also no longer holds any charge whatsoever, sothat i must keep
it plugged in at all times. Any ideas where we can get New batteries? EBay?
Apple? Amazon?

I keep it on mains supply for the most part, take it off for very short
intervals.

I would like to ask you your opinion about this. My six-year-old MacBook Pro
has alerted me that the battery needs to be replaced. It is no longer
charging. So it is confined to my desk for now. Should I replace the
battery? Or should I wait and just invest in a new Mac in the next year or
two? At this time I cannot afford any of the new MacBook pros. The MacBook
Air is a possibility or something from the refurbished store. I use the I
pad for checking my email daily listening to podcast and some web surfing.
It has taken a load off my old computer. But I do use the computer about
once a week or so for three or four hours at a time. Hopefully this type of
usage will prolong its life.
Any thoughts?
