I bet you could solve this using audio hijack and possibly a usb sound
card, or even just a usb sound card without audio hijack, but I think
you may need the audio hijack pro, because it can route different apps
to different devices or recordings.

Ok, testing microphone and speaker settings, there are a total of 4 options.
Speaker set to same as system, speaker set to built in, headset. Microphone
options are the same, built in/headset, or same as system. Going through the
possibilities, all four yield Voiceover coming through the Zoom connection.
I checked The Voiceover settings options, changed from system default to
built in/headset, same result.
Next thing I did was plug in a USB imcrophone, that fixed the problem.
Voiceover is now not coming through the connection to the Zoom session.Still
puzzling, but now I have a work around.Plus I get to use a cool Nintend Wii
Karaoke microphone.
Still open to suggestions as to what settings I may need to tinker with.

It sounds to me like you need to check your audio settings in zoom. Make
sure they’re using your headset and not your system speakers or microphone.
You have to select both.

When I’m on a Zoom session with my Mac, Voiceover and system
announcements can be heard by the others in the session. This had been
happening with a microphone equipped wired headset, so I tried it with an
old headset without, same problem. I set up a second Zoom account so I
could have my computer and phone on a session together, and I now know wht
folks wer talking about. The Voiceover speech is audible, but not as loud
as it is in my own ear. The system announcements read by Zoom, like
someone entering or a screen sharing announcement voiced by my computer
also came across clearly.
Best description I can give is that it sounds like what you might hear if
you weren’t using headphones, and your own microphone was picking up your
speakers and sending out Voiceover that way.

Ian,
I'm not sure what you mean. As long as you use a headset or pair of
headphones connected to your computer nobody should hear VO. What are you
trying to do exactly?

A while back somebody, I think it was Cheryl, noted good settings for
using Zoom with a Mac so that everyone on the call couldn’t hear
Voiceover chattering away.
I’ve been using two devices, an IPhone for Zoom and my computer for my
own work, but I’d like to get back to just the computer.
Thanks,
Ian
