[mac4theblind] text edit has gone busy:

all,
I accidentally pasted too much info into text edit and I cannot clear it. even
if I force quit, empty the caches when I re open it, it goes busy. I've also
restarted my computer.
Is there a fix for this?
would deleting the prefs file do it?
