Thank you all for your feedback. This sounds so encouraging, really the
oposite I felt. I'm going to listen some podcasts if I find some.

For all of you who are using a braille display with the ipod or ipad, I'm
wondering if it matters how many cells you have? Would it be an advantage to have 40 cells or would an ipad just show some small spots where your finger
touches right now, so 24 cells would be enough?

There is another question I have. I feel somewhat stupid but I'm quite
receptive to WLan emmissions. I'm getting a headache after about 20 minutes.
But I read there is an airplane mode for ipods and ipads. Would it be a
realistic possibility to work in this mode, allowing just bluetooth for a
keyboard and braille display and turn on WLan for just short things to
update the OS or recognize a song by shazam?

Thanks and kind regards
Ben

Ben, I just bought an iPad last week and am loving it. Using the
iPad takes
some practice. A good analogy might be how difficult it was at first to
learn driving with a stick shift. In a few weeks, it's second nature. I do
find that a wireless keyboard makes typing much easier than the onscreen
keyboard with VoiceOver. I'll be using the iPad and Pages for
note taking at
school and in meetings.

Hi to all

Today, I went to an apple store and held an ipad in my hands for the first
time. Amazing, it's much thinner than I thought. The guy there activated
voice over.

However I found it rather difficult to do things with all this
touching and
wiping. Most of all locating some things on the plain glass
screen. And some
funny things happened like the ipod suddenly playing music ...

Maybe I was shy or it was just an unlucky start for me. but anyway, I'm
wondering if you guys are really using an ipad or ipod touch for
your daily
life? I read somewhere about a company which makes some tactile
overlays for
blind people. Are you using something like that or are you really just
getting fine by figure out and memorizing all the spots on the
glass screen?

I'm actually looking for a portable organizer. So I thought an
ipad might be
an interesting solution since you could look at your appointmens sort of
like reading them in braille ... Do you guys organize your things
this way?

And is there a certain braille display you would reccommend to use with
these devices?

Kind regards
Ben
