[lit-ideas] magazine issue dates

I just got a magazine that I subscribe to and it was the MARCH issue --
almost two months early.
Does anyone know the genesis of this madness?
I mean, I can see the January issue coming out a week or two ahead of time,
but this is just silly. I don't usually look at the issue date, but I saw
an obituary about some guy who died 3 months ago. At first, I thought to
myself "that's weird, i wonder if the issues are slightly behind", but then
glancing at the date, it's MARCH, so they are actually, chronologically,
FIVE months out of date? Truly crazy. How can magazines bill themselves as
part of the 'news' when they are so far out of date?
