Snipers and other weirdos killing at random have always been around. When
we kicked in the door, as it were, we put ourselves on the map as targets.
It still surprises me that you're outraged at their outrage, but never at
the "kick me" signs we hung all over ourselves. If you tell me that we
were targets of al Qaeda before Iraq, you'll have to explain why we ignored
al Qaeda completely and by ignoring them, empowered them. This whole thing
is so bizarre, and so indicative of our ineffectiveness.
