AFP reports that

"FALLUJAH, Iraq (AFP) US troops made a partial pullback from this Sunni Mu=
slim bastion as a goodwill gesture, an Iraqi mediator said, as
rebels reportedly seized 11 Russian hostages and the fate of three Japanes=
e captives remained uncertain."

While in the New York Times,

"BAGHDAD, Iraq, April 12 =97 Rebels loyal to a radical Shiite cleric who h=
as been leading an uprising against foreign troops in Iraq ceded
control of police stations in at least one southern city today and were re=
ported to have withdrawn from government buildings in two other
cities."

Odd?

Best,
-tor
