---- As Ritchie said, he possibly re-invented. A favourite occurrence of
mine of "Wendy" in the literature is from the film (and homonym film), "Love
Story", in line performed by Ali McGraw.

Below.

I took the bit of the script (below) from a Korean site, which explains the
line,

"Abigail Adams or Wendy Wasp"

but the explanation is in Korean and escapes me:

Perhaps someone who knows Korean can translate?
Cheers,

JENNY : (V.O.) Holy shit!

Oliver goes on driving up the driveway toward the building.
JENNY : (V.O.) Hey, stop, Oliver. No kidding, stop the car.
Oliver stops the car. Dog barking.
JENNY : Hey, I didn¡¯t think it would be like this.
OLIVER : Like what?
JENNY : I mean, like this rich. This is too much for me.
OLIVER : Don¡¯t worry, Jenny. It¡¯ll be a breeze.
JENNY : Yeah, but why is it that I suddenly wish my name were... Abigail
Adams or Wendy Wasp.
OLIVER : Don¡¯t be scared.
Oliver kisses Jenny¡¯s cheek. He starts the car again.
¿JENNY : Aren¡¯t you?
OLIVER : No.
Oliver stops in front of the house. Oliver and Jenny get out of the car.
¢¼EXT. THE FRONT DOOR OF THE BARRETT MANSION
OLIVER : So far, so good.
JENNY : That¡¯s not saying much. Your hand is cold.
OLIVER : So is yours.
JENNY : Hey, let¡¯s get away from here while we still have a chance.
MAID : (V.O.) Master Oliver! Hello!
OLIVER : Hello, Florence. This is Jenny.
JENNY : Master? I always knew you had slaves.
Oliver and Jenny enter the house.
MAID : Let me take your wrap. Your parents are in the drawing room.
OLIVER : Thank you, Florence.
JENNY : Wow, I see half the buildings at Harvard hanging on that wall.
OLIVER : Oh, it¡¯s nothing.
JENNY : Hey, you didn¡¯t tell me you were related to the Sewell Boathouse.
OLIVER : Yes, I come from a long line of wood and stone.
¡á No kidding.
