When we are dead what will we find funny?
That we still exist, perhaps?
That might be amusing.
That we passed so many hours in this or that pastime?
That could be ironic.
That we did not love enough?
That would be sad.

When we are dead who will we find funny?
Saint someoneorother?
That would be odd.
Buster Keaton,
With no body?
Idi Amin?
Surely not.

When we are dead why will we find anything funny?
Because the universe is slow to cool?
See above under pastime.
Because it is essentially human?
See above under dead.
Because laughter can be enlightening?
I hope so.
