Grice disliked self-called 'professional philosophers', "those who look for philosophy for their 'bread and butter'"" as he ironically put it. Consider 'malpractice'. Today, many physicians are NOT of their country of origin, but expatriates. Medicine, unlike the time of Heraclitus, has become very technical, and there's malpractice. Medicine is a service profession. But philosphy is NOT. Therefore not only the idea of 'food for thought' is a hateful cliche, but also that of 'thought for food'. Cheers, J L Speranza, Bordighera
