Not hateful if it denoted a gathering dedicated to developing a big club with 
which to beat to death the idea of a "moral science".

As in "The ugly truth is they should never have tried to take the Falklands by 
force"? The expression "Never let an ugly fact get in the way of a beautiful 
theory" is used, but clearly does not represent a proper scientific or 
falsificationist POV.
