I auden't have done this.

The Movie-Loving One

Looking up at the screen, I easily cede
That, for all it's worth, I'd rather read,
But a flick with friends is often the best
Fun one can have while fully dressed.

Would Ebert raise thumbs if a film just loomed,
Yield no action or plot but what was coming soon?
If coming attractions cannot cease,
Let's go home and we'll read in peace.

Admirer as I wish I were
Of films that never start on time,
I cannot, now that I've seen one, say
Missing it would have spoiled my day.

Were all films to disappear or turn dark green,
I could learn to look at an empty screen
And talk to friends and feel my joys enlarged,
Though I might feel a little overcharged.
