"Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" is one of those unique movies. There's
nothing like
it.

The film was made with the three principal actors in front of a blue screen and
then the
sets and backgrounds were inserted digitally. This gives the movie a united
aesthetic, with
colors, textures, and design.

It's set in a 1930s or 40s of the future: it's retro-futurism, the kind of
future that was
once imagined. It has elements from Buck Rogers, the early Superman, Indiana
Jones,
StarWars, and all sorts of adventure/action/sci-fi.

Jude Law is fairly routine. Angelina Jolie is just a cartoon character. Gwyneth
Paltrow is
remarkable; she uses subtle facial expressions for her character.

It's totally cool to watch. I'll see it again, to see more details.
