I guess he meant 'no sacrifice' which is a simple expression, hardly word (since it's TWO words). Anyway, I was going to ask Michael Chase if he knew the Greek for 'sacrifice', since it seems the confusion started with the Romans. It seems wisest to avoid the word 'sacrifice' (and cognates) unless one really wants to get the holy into the picture. Incidentally, one wonders if the Anglo-Saxons had it (a word for 'sacrifice').
