I am finally home after graduation. I have done what I imagine Mirembe does for a living. I have been diplomatic until I feel robotic. "Hello... your son? Very well done. I remember..." One great moment though. One of my better students this semester has a Dad who recently married a woman from Glasgow. The student introduces his Dad. I shake his hand and say, "Pleased to meet you." I hear the woman from Glasgow. (It's an accent that cuts through background noise.) I turn to meet her. A Bengali face...the Glasgow accent...she's really beautiful... Nary a beat, "Isn't Damien's display really something?" And now Mirembe reminds me that I have six volumes of Ogden Nash waiting to be ruffled through. What a bright prospect. When I have had some sleep, I'll look forward to joining Mirembe's and your Monday.
