The Oregonian reports this morning that Ralph Nader failed last night to get the needed 1,000 persons to attend a nominating meeting that would have put him on the Oregon ballot in November. Only 750 people showed up. Nader blamed the poor turnout on the NCAA men's basketball championship game that night, the short notice leading up to the rally, and 'Monday's being a bad night to get people to leave their homes.' In 2000, a Nader rally drew 10,000 here. There's still a chance Nader can qualify for the ballot by getting 15,000 signatures on a nominating petition.
