For McEvoy, like Popper, there are no _essences_ -- indeed, no 'natural'
necessity.

Nec (McEvoy McEvoys)

is, for him, a string of nonsense.

In the world of scientific materialism, indeed, there are no essences.

From another point of view, it's back to Isaiah Berlin's negative freedom,
Donal will say:

"There is nothing McEvoy _must_ do (to be McEvoy")

    -------------------------------------

Therefore: There is no _essence_ to (Donal) McEvoy.

I believe this is _jumping_ to a conclusion. But, how else does a Popperian
reach a conclusion but _jumping_ to it?

Cheers,

JL
